Tecumseh Police Department issues gun purchase permits Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm for city residents.
You may apply for a permit from any police department in the State that offers that service. Each department may have a different procedure for obtaining a permit. At the Tecumseh Police Department, you will need to show identification at the desk. A background check will be completed prior to issuing a permit. Permits are then good for 30 days. Once a firearm is purchased the permit must be returned to the department where it was issued.
There will be a $5.00 charge for notary service.
Concealed Weapons Permit Applications are available, however; all paperwork, fingerprints, etc. must go through the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department.
A concealed pistol license (CPL) holder may purchase a gun through a licensed dealer without a purchase permit.
Safety Inspections are no longer required.
In most cases the paperwork can be done while you wait.
Remember, it is important to keep your guns secured and out of reach of children.
City Ordinance prohibits the discharge of a weapon within the city limits.
