The Economic Development Department serves as a resource center and liaison for commercial, industrial and local small businesses. We are committed to developing programs, policies and activities that improve the economic well-being and quality-of-life for the Tecumseh community. 

How Can We Help Your Business?
  • Available Property Listings - We work with area realtors and property owners to share information on Tecumseh commercial properties that are available to buy or lease. Click here for more information. 
  • Business Inventory -  The City maintains a listing of commercial and industrial business in the City of Tecumseh.  If you are a new business in Tecumseh or don't see your business listed, please click here to fill out a brief form so we can add you to the list.
  • Demographic Information - Up-to-date community profiles and community trend information is available through the Economic Development Department.
  • Marketing Assistance: -  Our Marketing Coordinator markets the City of Tecumseh as a whole as well as works with individual businesses to help them to increase their marketability and generate a strong customer base. 
  • Market Analysis: A market Analysis indicating types of businesses recommended for expansion or recruitment in Tecumseh is available for viewing.
  • Resources and Incentives - The City of Tecumseh offers various incentives to qualifying projects to help fill potential financial gaps. The purpose of these incentives is to encourage new development in Tecumseh for many different types of businesses. The City of Tecumseh coordinates incentive applications for developers and businesses through our Economic Development Director, City Manager, City Council and City Clerk.   • Downtown Development Authority - The Tecumseh Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a longstanding entity formed in 1981 that focuses on the economic vitality and growth of the Downtown Tecumseh area.
  • Local Development Finance Authority  -  A SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA) is an economic development tool that allows property tax dollars to be captured and reinvested to provide support to high-technology entrepreneurs, businesses and researchers in our local community. 
  • Market On Evans - Tecumseh's Farmers Market is located at the Market on Evans - 213 North Evans Street, 1 &1/2 blocks north of Chicago Blvd in Downtown Tecumseh.  The market runs from May until October on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. 
  • Match on Main - Match on Main is a reimbursement grant program, provided by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, that serves as a tool to support new or expanding place-based businesses by providing up to $25,000 in funding to support an eligible small business through an application submitted, administered, and managed by the local unit of government, downtown development authority, or other downtown management or community development organization where the business is located.
  • MLK Community Spirit Award - The goal of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Spirit Award is to honor those that have made a significant contribution to create a true community of belonging for all here in Tecumseh; someone that embodies Dr. King’s vision for a ‘Beloved Community.’
