Fire Department Receives $20,000 Grant Award

The City of Tecumseh’s Fire Department was the recipient of a $20,000 grant award through the MI Fire Equipment Grant Program. The reimbursement grant program was established to provide funding for the purchase of fire equipment for part time, on call, or volunteer firefighters.

Tecumseh’s Fire Department utilized the grant funds to purchase safety equipment including helmets, goggles, gloves, and accessories.
“Safety is our number one priority,” stated Fire Chief Scot Long. “Receiving these grant funds helped the department make these necessary purchases and replace older equipment much sooner than we had anticipated.”

Tecumseh’s Fire Department is a combination department, employing a mixture of career and volunteer, or part-paid, firefighters. Full-time positions include the Chief and two firefighters licensed to the Paramedic level. These firefighters work a 24-hour rotation, which ensures the department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
